News on user behaviour from Google UAE

Resarch of user behaviour in UAE

- A Google Consumer Study shows interesting facts about online behavior in the UAE:

1) Search engines are the most used source of online research information (81% of respondents) with Manufacturer websites (49%), and Directories and local listings (27%) trailing behind.

2) Search engines are used most for research in relation to tech (67%) and travel (48%) products.

3) Amongst UAE residents, the Internet is the ‘information tool’ used most often when researching possible purchases across a range of categories including digital cameras/camcorders, mobile phones, cars as well as hotel reservations.

4) In the UAE, English (76% of respondents) is by far the most popular ‘search’ language (likely to be related to the highly multinational nature of UAE society) vs. 23% preferring to search in Arabic.

We decided to make a directory strictly for online marketing resources. So from now on you will be able to find all those usefull websites on www.a1974.com. We have started out with a couple of quite usefull links like Alexa.com Siteinfo, where you can type in any domain in the world and get a pretty decent idea about how used the website is, and where the websites users come from. This is very handy when you do online media buying yourself.

Feel free to ad links to the directory and even ad your own homepage or blog if it is relevant for online marketing. You can get a free lifetime listing if you link back to the directory from your site.

The directory is optimised for maximum SEO effect for the sites listed, so go knock yourself out with a little extra link juice. The directory is not only for Dubai or UAE but global.

Internet usage has seasons

Internet usage has seasons

Like all media Internet has seasonality. This means that search engines and SEM and SEO campaigns experience seasonality.

In Europe Internet has far higher usage in January-February and again in September-November. Holiday season with Christmas in December and Summer with nice weather and holidays, gives less media consumption and Internet usage the rest of the year.

Therefore don’t expect your SEO and SEM/Adwords campaigns to deliver massively when people are busy with holidays like Christmas, Easter, Eid or Ramadan. Or if the weather is straight out great making people want to spend more of their time outside.

Seasonality of course has different patterns in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and UAE than in Europe or USA.

Dubai First SEO is now official Google partner.

Dubai First SEO is now official Google partner.

A few weeks ago we passed the Google Advertising Professional exam. This is your guarantee that we are professional in handling Google Adwords campaigns.

To achieve this accreditation, which is now visible on our homepage as a logo from Google, we need to spend a minimum of advertising Dirhams through Google Adwords apart from being able to pass the the exam.

The term SEM refers to Search Engine Marketing which in most cases means working solely with Google Adwords. Today this is the most important part of online marketing.

If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to contact me on 00971 50 554 7107.

SEO and SEM spending expected to rise in 2009

SEO and SEM spending expected to rise in 2009

I just read an article about expected ad spend in Denmark for 2009. Pretty much everything is down except for online marketing which is expected to rise 10% on average. At the same time offline marketing like TV and Print is seen to fall.

SEO and SEM spending is pulling that figure positive while banner advertising is expected to be flat.  SEM is expected to rise 30% in spending for the year 2009 and SEO is expected to rise even 50%.

Denmark is a fairly mature online market with a high penetration of broadband and usage. In Dubai and UAE in general the growth of SEM will likely be even higher as it comes from a lower percentage of overall ad spend and this growth will almost entirely be driven by Google’s Adwords, since Google has the by far the highest amount of visitors and growth. I would also expect SEO growth in Dubai and UAE to be much higher than 50%, since it comes from currently a very low level and just now companies are starting to realise the enormous potential and value of being on the first page of Google’s organic search results.
