Dubai First SEO is becoming Mapto Media

With more and more international SEO clients it is natural to keep Dubai First SEO as a local brand, while the new brand Mapto Media is created as the mother- and international brand.

www.dubaifirstseo.com will remain as an active website, which can be used more freely as a blog, while www.maptomedia.com will be the official website.

The new name also better embraces other important areas like SEM (Search Engine Marketing). As well as another important area we have launched a service within, which is website optimization in terms of conversion rate. Conversion rate is the amount of visitors that actually converts into the action you have as target on your website. If you don’t have a target action for your website you really need to get one. If you don’t know what the action oriented purpose of your website is – then how can you improve it?

There is no excuse for not having a conversion target for your website. As a minimum it should be visits to your “contact” page or people filling out the contact formular. SEM/Adwords Tip: Use Of Capitol Letters During Dynamic Keyword Insertion

Google Adwords has a great function for the use of CAPITOL letters in ad texts - when you use dynamic keyword insertion

Ad texts with each word starting with a capitol letter gets slightly higher clickrates: Like This For Instance. Now when you use dynamic keyword insertion that can be a bit tricky, because people generally search with small letters (dynamic keyword insertion is when the keyword is put directly into your ad to make it more relevant to the user, as your ad contains exactly what they have searched for, and it also appears in bold, so in general dynamic keyword insertion has quite a positive effect on your clickrates). So how do you get those ads to look great even though people search in small letters?

It all comes down to how you “code” the dynamic keyword insertion in your ad text in Google Adwords. Have a look at this:

Use CPC Bidding To Control Your Daily Spend Or People Will Miss Your Ad

Be smart and get more value out of your SEM / Adwords campaign by using CPC bidding to control your spend instead of a constraining daily budget max

If you use the daily budget max to control your spend every day, then your ads will stop showing, when the budget is reached. This means that your ads might be showing the first X amount of hours per day after which they will dissappear. Do you really want the people who actively search for your product to NOT see your ad? I didn’t think so.

Instead use the CPC or CPA bidding to get the average daily spending to the level, where you want it. This way you end up paying less for each click (instead of paying too much on a smaller part of the day) and being visible all 24 hours of the day.

We recommend using the max daily spend as an “emergency break” on e.g. double the spend you want to have – just to make sure that things don’t get out of hand. This way you get more value out of your SEM / Adwords campaign with a higher ROI and constantly visible ads.

Internet usage has seasons

Like all media Internet has seasonality. This means that search engines and SEM and SEO campaigns experience seasonality.

In Europe Internet has far higher usage in January-February and again in September-November. Holiday season with Christmas in December and Summer with nice weather and holidays, gives less media consumption and Internet usage the rest of the year.

Therefore don’t expect your SEO and SEM/Adwords campaigns to deliver massively when people are busy with holidays like Christmas, Easter, Eid or Ramadan. Or if the weather is straight out great making people want to spend more of their time outside.

Seasonality of course has different patterns in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and UAE than in Europe or USA.

SEM Spending Expected To Rise in 2009, But SEO Even More

SEO and SEM spending expected to rise in 2009

I just read an article about expected ad spend in Denmark for 2009. Pretty much everything is down except for online marketing which is expected to rise 10% on average. At the same time offline marketing like TV and Print is seen to fall.

SEO and SEM spending is pulling that figure positive while banner advertising is expected to be flat. SEM is expected to rise 30% in spending for the year 2009 and SEO is expected to rise even 50%.

Denmark is a fairly mature online market with a high penetration of broadband and usage. In Dubai and UAE in general the growth of SEM will likely be even higher as it comes from a lower percentage of overall ad spend and this growth will almost entirely be driven by Google’s Adwords, since Google has the by far the highest amount of visitors and growth. I would also expect SEO growth in Dubai and UAE to be much higher than 50%, since it comes from currently a very low level and just now companies are starting to realise the enormous potential and value of being on the first page of Google’s organic search results.
