SEO and SEM spending expected to rise in 2009
I just read an article about expected ad spend in Denmark for 2009. Pretty much everything is down except for online marketing which is expected to rise 10% on average. At the same time offline marketing like TV and Print is seen to fall.
SEO and SEM spending is pulling that figure positive while banner advertising is expected to be flat. SEM is expected to rise 30% in spending for the year 2009 and SEO is expected to rise even 50%.
Denmark is a fairly mature online market with a high penetration of broadband and usage. In Dubai and UAE in general the growth of SEM will likely be even higher as it comes from a lower percentage of overall ad spend and this growth will almost entirely be driven by Google’s Adwords, since Google has the by far the highest amount of visitors and growth. I would also expect SEO growth in Dubai and UAE to be much higher than 50%, since it comes from currently a very low level and just now companies are starting to realise the enormous potential and value of being on the first page of Google’s organic search results.

Google Adwords allow dynamic keyword insertion
This hint has nothing to do with the type of match you use for your keywords. This hint is about your text ads you use on Google search when you run your SEM campaign in Google Adwords.
You know when you do a search, then the keyword will appear in bold, if it appears anywhere on the search results or in the Adwords ads that you see on the page. This is of course a help to the user to more quickly find the relevant results on the page. It gets more attention. You want this for your own Google ads as well. More text in bold gets more attention and higher clickrate. Higher clickrate gives you more visitors and you have to pay less to be positioned higher on the sponsored links.
The way you use this in your ad is by using this small code: {keyword:doctor} in your ad text. Then if people search for doctor then doctor will appear in the ad. Say people search for clinic, then clinic will appear in the ad. However, if the search phrase is too long to be inserted in your ad then “doctor” will be the default text, as this is the text you have after “keyword:” in the small code.
You can use this in Dubai or anywhere else around the world – it works! And it does not matter if your campaign is in Arabic, English, Danish or any other language.
